Live code music in your browser

About

Zen is a live coding application for musical composition, sound design, and performance in real time, all within the browser. While it can be used like a standard live coding language, its most distinctive feature is the use of quantum computing algorithms for generative music.

Zen can be downloaded as a desktop app for Mac, Windows and Linux. See the releases page.

It was devised, researched, and built at the ICCMR, University of Plymouth, while studying for the PhD Computer Music. You can read about the project here, which includes a comprehensive overview of the project's development, and a useful primer on quantum computing for musicians.
